Reasons Why Your Shower Walls Have Water Streaks

As I have suffered from this earlier, I tried to find possible reasons for water streaks. Here you will get to know the reasons.

  • Extreme Humidity Level

Sometimes the weather changes with excessive humidity levels. If your bathroom has less space to keep it cool, you will notice your bathroom walls damaging.

As it can cause water stains, it will ruin the bathroom décor. The visible water stains can damage the walls.

If you are using a humidifier in your bathroom, it can also cause water stains. It can be disappointing for you. Because it is hard to understand the reason.

The last winter, I have installed a humidifier in the bathroom. After some days, my bathroom walls got water stains. Meanwhile, I didn’t have any idea the reason for the stains on the bathroom walls.

  • High Mineral On Water

If the water contains high mineral ingredients, it can cause water stains on bathroom walls. When the hard water dries out, it keeps yellow stains on the wall.

Over the passing time, it affects the bathroom ceiling and surface.

Hard water is harmful to your body as well. Basically, water should have a proper amount of minerals. Along with that, hard water can cause less moisture in the bathroom.

  • Clogged Drain Pipes

As we use the bathroom every day, the drain pipe can be jammed. Sometimes, you can not notice the debris in the drain area. It is one of the main reasons for water stains.

  • Soap Water Streaks

While bathing, the soapy water splashes on bathroom walls. However, it can be hard for you to control water splashing. Suddenly you will notice brown and yellow stains on your bathroom walls.

  • Surfactant Leaching

The surfactant leaching occurs due to latex paint. If your wall paint has latex ingredients, it can cause surfactant leaching.

The evaporated moisture will seep through the latex paint when you take a hot shower. It can cause some dark stains on the bathroom walls.

  • Ceiling Leakage

The ceiling is an essential part of the bathroom. Moreover, the bathroom ceiling can be damaged by water leakage. Because of the heavy storms, it can leak water through the roof.

Water leakage occurs for plumbing mistakes. The ceiling can be damaged over the years.

  • Insufficient Ventilation Capacity

If your bathroom doesn’t have enough ventilation space, it can evaporate the heat into water stains.

Furthermore, it is a common problem we all have faced. Right?

A bathroom without a proper ventilation system will be full of water stains on the wall.

For this, it can dampen the bathroom walls. Ventilation is essential for a bathroom.

When we take a bath, it can absorb the body heat and balance the air. The poor ventilation capacity is responsible for the water

stains.

  • Condensation Stain On Walls

Have you ever noticed your bathroom walls sweating? It is the effect of condensation. You may see water droplet stains on the cold surface. However, it affects the bathroom walls.

Sometimes the wall paint can fall off. But you don’t have any idea why it is happening? Condensation can be the reason for this problem.

Thus, it can occur due to moisture imbalance.

  • Mildew

If you don’t wipe the walls, it can cause mildew. Yet, it is a growing fungus. Mildew is not suitable for the walls.

Also, it spreads bacterial diseases.  This fungus can grow due to excess moisture.

Moreover, it causes yellow and brown stains on the walls. Gradually it can ruin your bathroom walls over time.

How To Fix Bathroom Walls Sweating?

You know prevention is better than cure. But it is not possible to prevent all the reasons.

Considering all the reasons, you can also solve them in your convenient way. Here I will share my experience of solving the reasons.

  • Appropriate Ventilation

First of all, I will suggest the appropriate ventilation system in your bathroom. It will solve 80 percent of the stain problems of bathroom walls.

How can you do it? Let me explain.

Open your ventilator window. After bathing, keep your bathroom door open for a while. Along with that, you can install a ventilator fan for balancing the air circulation.

It also helps you to keep the proper moisture in the bathroom. Moreover, it can balance excess heat and humidity.

For streak-free walls, you must have a good ventilation capacity in your bathroom.

  • Anti-condensation paint

If you notice condensation stains, you have to repaint your bathroom walls. Because no cleaner can solve it. In case of repainting the walls, I recommend using anti- anti-condensation paint.

You can appoint painters or paint it yourself.

While buying it, you have to check if the paint has anti-condensation elements. It will protect your bathroom walls from condensation streaks.

  • Cleaning The Gutters

Make a routine for cleaning the drain holes of your bathroom. If you keep it clean; it won’t cause stains on your bathroom wall. Also, it will keep your hygiene healthy.

  • Water Softener Installation

To avoid hard water, you can install a water softener or filter in your bathroom. It will remove the extra mineral from the water.

Besides, it will prevent hard water stains on the walls. You have to choose a good quality water filter or softener. While installing it, observe the water circulation.

  • Fixing Ceiling Leakage

If your bathroom ceiling is leaking, you have to fix it as soon as possible. In my opinion, you shouldn’t delay it for later.

Otherwise, it can damage your bathroom walls. To avoid this, call a plumber and solve the problem.

  • Chemical Stain Remover

There are many chemical stain removers available in the market. You can use the chemical stain remover if you clean your bathroom frequently.

But be careful while applying it on the walls. Wear gloves and avoid using your hands directly.

  • DIY Stain Cleaner

You can make a cleaner with some kitchen ingredients. Go to your kitchen. Moreover, you have to take a bottle of white vinegar.

Also, you will require fresh water. For making the cleaner, whisk the two ingredients equally. Store the cleaner in a spray bottle.

You have to keep the cleaner on bathroom walls for 15 minutes. Wipe it with a dry cloth. It can be a budget-friendly solution for water stains.

Conclusion

After the discussion, I hope it will help you consider the reasons for water streaks on bathroom walls. The reasons are co-related to each other. So, you can quickly solve it.

If you follow the solutions I have mentioned, you must get rid of the hard stains in your bathroom.

Along with that, you can wipe the bathroom walls if possible. It will support you in keeping your bathroom clean and hygienic.
