Can You Get Genital Warts From A Toilet Seat?

ca you get genital warts from a toilet seat?

You have a nice and clean bathroom with all modern gadgets. And I am pretty sure you have the best modern toilet, there maybe even the best bidet installed and so on.

Over the last few decades, there has been a huge technological advancement. So, most of the modern toilet seats are self-cleaning type. After each flush, they clean the toilet bowl so clean that no additional cleaning is required.

Having said that, no matter how much you try to keep it clean, bacteria and virus-like to grow in the bathroom than the rest of the home.

Why?

They like a damp place and where there is always some water! That’s the reason we use all those cleaners to fight against those germs. Using a good-quality toilet bowl cleaner like Lysol helps to fight better.

But what about genital warts? A lot of people like you are really concerned about whether can you get genital warts from a toilet seat. We all know about genital warts but how they spread from one human to another, what to do about them who are already affected?

So, let’s first make the concept clear about genital warts. Then you can decide whether a toilet seat can be responsible for genital warts.

Genital warts are sexually transmitted disease (STD) and it is also known as HPV or venereal warts. In the United States, human papillomavirus is mainly responsible for genital warts.

Out of a total of 100 types of HPV, over 40% of these types can affect your genital area, throat or mouth. But how genital warts spread?

To put it simply, it mainly happens due to sexual intercourse no matter whether there are any penetrations or not. If anyone’s genital affected skin get in touch with any unaffected skin,  the unaffected skin will also get affected.

Not necessarily there has to be any sort of sexual intimacy, any form of touch can spread it. That’s where people get confused what if genital warts affected person uses a toilet, then you go there and sit on the toilet seat.

Will you be affected too? The intimidating fact about genital warts is that even the affected partner of you may not know he/she is affected.

It takes months or even a year to show any symptoms of genital warts. So you may get affected even before you know about it and before you can take any precautions.

What worse about genital warts is that it may lead to other forms of STD like HIV. As I mentioned, sexual intercourse in any form with your affected partner can cause genital warts. So it may lead to HIV as well.

However, I am not going to go deep down about genital warts. But what I can tell you about genital warts is that you can’t get affected by a toilet seat. That’s the general answer.

And why I am saying that? Because the HPV can’t survive much longer without the host (human body). So, even the toilet seat may get contaminated by HPV, it won’t survive long enough to affect you.

You can’t even get genital warts affected from hugging your partner or kissing someone who is affected by it. Even all the things genital warts affected use are perfectly safe for any other people. Don’t get paranoid!

But what if someone HPV affected just came out of the toilet and immediately you enter into the bathroom to use the toilet? Maybe there is a time distance of only 5 to 10 seconds.

For a family with lots of members,  this is not an uncommon scenario. Will you be affected by such a time distance? To me, the answer it, it’s really hard to tell.

What can you do to disappear all the confusion about your toilet seat? Having one of the best quality toilet seats is not all, you have to clean it regularly. Not just the toilet seat, you should clean your whole bathroom at regular intervals. HPV won’t attack you due to the toilet seat,  but what about other viruses and bacteria?

So even though there is no direct threat of genital warts from a toilet seat, to live a healthy and get rid of other fatal virus and bacteria, you should always clean your toilet bowl, toilet seat, and other bathroom gadgets.

Rising awareness among all the family members is a good idea. Talk about it with your partner and tell every family member or whoever use your toilet to clean flush it every time they use it.

So lastly, to sum up, tell all the family members of you that nobody can get genital warts from a toilet seat but it’s always a good idea to stay safe and keep clean the toilet always.
